The subject of drawing paths reminds me that
there is another tool becoming available for the
LW animator, one that may be very helpful for
those who are most comfortable approaching
design with a pen in hand and an eye for shape
and form realized through drawing.

There are a variety of ways to create paths in
LW, but it would be nice if modelor had straight
forward structured drawing-style tools. I'm
talking about the kinds of connected bezier curve,
line and freehand drawing tools that make creating
and altering basic shapes a breeze. Modelor has
some capabilities in this direction, but not on par
with those you'd find in programs like Illustrator,
ProVector, etc.

The makers of ProVector, the Amiga structured drawing
program (version 3 just released) have had on their (soon)
upcoming feature list _LW object export_. Once this feature
is available you'll be able to create any kind of smooth
curved shape in an environment designed for that kind
of work. ProVector's extensive ARexx support means
automated connection between PV and Modelor is
conceivable for a very fluid working environment.

ProVector is already useful for creating video graphics
in a multi-layered object-oriented environment,
especially with it's support for bitmapped images
along with the structured graphics; its ability
to render bitmapped output (among other options);
the included Stylus Tracer software for autotracing
bitmaps into structured graphics, and the ability
to directly load EPS graphics (great for animating
existing logos).

Once the LightWave object export is ready,
you'll be able to use ProVector and Stylus Tracer
to turn scanned artwork or existing EPS files into
LightWave objects, do fancy text effects and make
them into objects, draw complex shapes for
extrusion in LightWave, and create complex, fluid
motion paths very easily.

Stylus has been around for years and has consistently
supported their drawing program. They are
